Are You Overlooking These 5 Spaces Most People Miss While Cleaning?

Writer: American Maid CleanersAmerican Maid Cleaners
Chances are, you're forgetting to clean these 5 places while cleaning. (Pro tip: you can hire us to do it for you!)

Vacuum Cleaner On Carpet

Imagine this: it's been a MESS recently, the house is in shambles. Your kitchen needs a good decluttering, living room needs the windows cleaned, your office space has at LEAST five layers of dust covering the desk. BAM! You push through and clean it all. You take a deep breath and smile, almost satisfied. But something still seems off, unclean.

You know what is is? The. Details.

Everyone always cleans the BIG eyesores and by the time that's done, look past the small ones. Spoiler alert: the smaller cleaning tasks make a HUGE difference! Lets talk about the 5 spaces people miss most while cleaning:

Your Light Switches are Dirtier than your Toilet Seat.

Dirt covered light switches.

You read that right. Light switches are often more dirty than toilet seats. TOILET. SEATS. That one always gets me. Light switches accumulate about 217 bacteria per square inch, while toilet seats average at about 50 bacteria per square inch, according to a few studies.

I have not walked into a space where I haven't seen at least one dirty light switch (other than the spaces we've cleaned, of course). You want to know why? Everyone touches light switches multiple times a day, and the heat from the electricity can serve as a catalyst for bacteria growth.

And then they're forgotten about, understandably of course as almost everyone has grown up not giving light switches another thought other than as a place to turn your lights on and off. But that stops today!! Clean your light switches folks!! (Or have us do it for you!)

Shower Door... Seals?

If you have glass shower doors, you already know; They. Get. Gross. They need to be cleaned pretty regularly to stay clear and sparkly, but they still never really look like they did when you first bought them, right?

One of the reasons for that: the shower door seals, AKA the grippy things on the top and/or bottom of your glass shower door, have likely never been cleaned. And I don't mean scrubbed over while you're cleaning your door, I mean they can COME OFF. And once they do, you'd be surprised at the amount of build-up and green-gunk that can collect on the inside of them that makes the outside appear dirty and gross. (Don't worry, you can hire us to clean these too!)

Look Down, Your Baseboards Need a Good Dusting!

Clean baseboards are KEY to a clean space. I swear they make the biggest difference to the overall look of a room. They can definitely be easy to miss, however. Why? Because people rarely look down when they enter a space.

But when someone's scanning the entirety of a room, dirty baseboards can unconsciously make the walls of that room look dirty, no matter how much you've dusted them. (And, surprise surprise, you can also hire us to clean these for you!)

...And look up!

Just as much as we don't look down when we enter a space, it takes us even longer to look up. For example, when was the last time you saw the top of your fridge?

Let me tell you, those things get coated in dust alone within about a week. Not to mention everything else that might get thrown up there. (In my house, the top of my fridge was extra storage for the longest time, which just ended up leading to more dust. That was NOT a fun find once I finally grabbed a step stool to organize things. Lol.)

Speaking of Toilet Seats...

Cleaning back of toilet seat.

...Take them off! Soooo much build-up gets trapped under the toilet seat hinge, and while often times you can't see it because it's covered, it can eventually lead to staining, bacteria accumulation, and bad odors.

AKA, your toilet isn't truly clean if you've never taken off the seat before, so it's super important that you clean under it! (Orrrrr, you guessed it, we clean those too!)

Moral of the story, clean. The. Details!! OR even better, get us to clean them for you!
